She is survived by her son Eddie and daughters Pinky, Broghese and Desam and by her six grandchildren, Hoilo, Brigitte, Patricia, Natasha, Collin, and Oscar.
Ms. Hui was born on Dec 17 1930 in Ningbo Zhejiang China. She attended school in Shanghai. Growing up, Ms. Hui was very artistic. She was very passionate about singing and dancing. She dreamt of becoming a Chinese opera singer and performing for people.
She immigrated to Hong Kong in 1952. Through a family friend, she was introduced to Mr.Tung Chan Fong and they married on April 16, 1952. They started a beautiful family in a cozy flat in Hong Kong’s Tsuen Wan district. They gave birth to a beautiful son, Eddie and 3 beautiful daughters Pinky, Desam and Brorgese.
She was a smart lady and learned to drive a minibus and ran a school pick up/drop off service for kids. Although she never became a singer, her artistic skills were useful elsewhere. She often took embroidery and sequin orders and helped sew intricate patterns and sequins onto designer Clothes.
Later in life they immigrated across the globe to Canada. They joined their son Eddie and his wife Mandy in Vancouver, Britsh Columbia.
Life in Canada was busy. She spent her days cooking delicious meals and taking care of her grandchildren. She made the freshest lunches for her family. Every morning at the crack of dawn she would prepare fresh cooked Chinese dishes and rice for them to bring to work and school. Shanghai dishes such as Kow Fu, stewed meatballs and steamed egg in chicken consumme were her specialty.
Her and grandpa Fong also took the grandkids on many adventures including trips to Science World, North Vancouver, Metrotown and Chinatown. If she wasn’t busy taking care of the grandchildren she would enjoy knitting cozy sweaters. She also loved watching Chinese TV dramas and playing a game of Mah Jong, Solitaire or Tetris.
She was a loving mother and a super grandmother. She always wanted to make her children happy and full. She was a selfless lady who not only taught us to have patience for others but to also have compassion for others. We love her and miss her every single day. Until we meet again Grandma, we hope you have a table full of food and snacks waiting for us.
