Nancy Lin Sing Chu

A devoted caregiver, Nancy was a protector of her family and close friends, showing unwavering love and support until the very end. During her four-month battle with cancer, she cherished the visits, calls, well wishes, and homemade soups from those dear to her. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who brought joy and comfort to Nancy's life.

Born on March 28, 1946, in Hong Kong—a place she loved and frequently visited—Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Peter Chu; her three sons, Chris (Gillian) Chu, Edwin (Avy) Chu, and Paul Chu; and her cherished grandchildren, Sabrina, Jason, David, Kylene, Gabriella, and Samantha. Nancy graduated from Belilios Public School in 1964 and from Queen Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in 1967, both in Hong Kong. She and Peter married in 1967 and immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, in 1971, where they built a life together. As a dedicated mother, Nancy instilled in her three sons the values of family, loyalty, hard work, and sacrifice, always encouraging them to embrace the truth.

She started her career as a nurse at Queen Elizabeth Hospital followed by medical receptionist roles for a select group of wonderful doctors, leaving a lasting impression on those she served.

Nancy had a passion for adventure and travel. Among the many places she explored, Morocco stood out as a favorite, with its desert camping, camel rides, friendly culture, and savory cuisine. She looked forward to trips with her nursing school friends, creating countless laughs and memories together.

An avid lover of the visual arts, Nancy taught photography to adults at the Vancouver School Board, led local field trips, and received awards for her stunning landscapes and wildlife photography. She also embarked on a journey to develop her painting skills and hosted exhibitions of her work. Her passion and accomplishments continue to inspire all who knew her.

Nancy will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her warmth, strength, and vibrant spirit.

Her memorial service will be held Saturday, April 19 @1:00pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home (3789 Royal Oak Ave, Burnaby BC ). Early dinner will follow the service at Fortune City Restaurant (302-2800 E 1st Ave, Vancouver BC) @3:00pm.
