Mu-Yan “Wendy” Lee, born April 21, 1955 in Toishan, China, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2024 at the age of 68 in Vancouver, Canada after a courageous 27-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones beneath the snowflakes falling over the sparkling lights of the Burrard Inlet and the North Shore mountains.
Mu-Yan is predeceased by her parents Kee Kwong and Qi Zhen. She is survived by her devoted husband of 45 years Yuk Chun; children Jenny (Brian) and Tony (Nesreen); grandchildren Brandon, Jaiden, Mariah and Peyton; and siblings Mo Kam, Tse Ming and Wei Ming.
With gratitude to be able to attend school in her early years in China, Mu Yan was a keen and hardworking student who embraced and excelled in her studies at Toishan Overseas Chinese High School. After immigrating to Vancouver, BC in 1981 with not a word of English, she along with her husband worked tirelessly to successfully raise and educate their 2 devoted children. With Mu Yan’s aptitude to learn and problem solve, there was never an obstacle too great that she would let stand in her way to support her family. She sacrificed all and only the best of herself for her children and grandchildren who looked upon her as their superhero.
Mu-Yan’s spirit of adventure and practical skills in life allowed her to grasp the opportunities whenever presented to explore new places and try new activities, culminating with an unforgettable family trip back to Toishan for the first time in 2018. Her love for the outdoors, camping, cruising, road trips, cooking traditional foods for her family and visiting any and every park was only surpassed by the love she had for her family, especially her four grandchildren.
Free from the struggles and pain that cancer had brought to her life, she can now finally rest in peace for a job well done.
