Mon Bew Lee

September 10, 1931- February 19, 2018

Our beloved William Mon Bew was received into heaven on Monday, February 19, 2018 surrounded by his family.

Loving husband of 57 years to Oy-Chun, devoted father to Herb (Pearl), Sandra (Al) and Margaret (Scott) and adoring Gung-Gung to Caitlin (Jeff), Jonathon (Alyssa), Tamara, Ryan, Kyle and Connor.

Mon Bew was pre-deceased by his parents, Chang Lee and Ma Siu Lan, two sisters and one brother.

Mon Bew lived a full and blessed life. He was born in Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, China. Mon Bew first immigrated to Canada by steam ship via San Francisco in the latter part of 1951, arriving in Vancouver to join his father with the hopes of putting down roots here before returning to Hong Kong to get married.

Mon Bew’s first job was working with his father delivering produce door to door, followed by a job at Rex Wholesale delivering produce, then as a courier with the Pony Express and subsequently with Canada Post where he retired at the age of 60.

During his retirement, Mon Bew enjoyed one his favourite pastimes of spending time with his wife and sharing in the care of their six grandchildren and of course, watching his favourite western tv dramas and the Vancouver Canucks.

Our family wishes to thank Dr. Tony Chiu, Dr. Simon Wong, the ER staff along with the care team at Vancouver General Hospital’s 7C Blackmore Pavilion led by Dr. Evan Roll including nurses Arlene, Yolanda and Anabel for the wonderful care that they gave to him.

A Celebration of Mon Bew’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 6th at 1:00 pm in the Chapel at Ocean View Funeral Home. Light lunch to follow immediately in the adjoining Reception Area.

Viewing will be held on the evening of Monday, March 5th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm.
