Maria Lutter

Maria Lutter, nee Grab passed away in Comox on 26 October 2021. Maria started life on 14 August 1933 in the small Croatian town of Selci before the family moved to Germany in 1944 ultimately settling in Königsbach. In 1954 she married Kurt Rosemann and their union produced her first child, Jürgen in 1956.

After their marriage ended, she immigrated to Canada in 1959 where she married Alois in 1961 and celebrated newborn Robert a year later. Also, in 1962 they opened up Lutter’s Delicatessen in Vancouver then 10 years later Lutter’s Imports in Richmond. Maria retired in 1993 in Vancouver before moving to Merritt after Alois passed away in 2017. In September 2021 Maria was moved to Comox to be closer to her family.

Throughout her time in Canada, Maria was active with the German community and loved to travel especially when Skat was involved. She taught her grandchildren honest card etiquette which they still remember to this day.

Maria is survived by her sister, Magdalena, her two son’s Jürgen (Lynn) and Robert, her two grandchildren Jason (Haley) and Christine (Jodi) and three great grandchildren Theodore, Henrik and Isabella.

Maria suffered with severe dementia, A funeral service will be held at Ocean View Funeral Home on November 23, at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
