Luigi Unti

June 10, 1935 – November 20, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we say goodbye to our dear Luigi. He was a loving Husband, Father, Brother, Zio, a very proud Nonno and a good friend to many. Luigi was born in the Province of Lucca in Tuscany, in the small town of Zone. He passed away peacefully in Vancouver, BC on November 20, 2022 at the age of 87 with his wife by his side. Luigi is survived by his loving family; wife Maria of 58 years, son Flavio, daughter-in-law Cristina, grandchildren Julia, Stella and Romano, brother Oreste, sister-in-law Antonietta (Cornelio) Baldonero, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Luigi was predeceased by his parents Paride & Filomena Unti, Sisters Loredana (Adorando) Del Bucchia & Paridina (Fernando) Del Rosso and Sister-in-law Mona Unti.

We will always remember Luigi as an outgoing, kind, and loving person who made friends easily, and had a deep love for his family. He had an unwavering passion for being part of his Grandchildren’s lives; they truly were his pride and joy. He was so very proud of his grandchildren, and his only wish was to watch them all do well in school and flourish in life. “Toscano” as he was affectionately called by his many friends, enjoyed his traditional Italian pastimes of gardening, making his own wine, big family lunches, Italian Banquets, playing bocce at the Italian Cultural Centre and cards at the Osteria. He loved visiting family in Italy and in Trail, BC, and always enjoyed being in the company of friends and family. The outpouring of love and kindness from everyone he knew is overwhelming and humbling. We will always think that he was taken much too soon because we loved him so much. We thank God for the wonderful life we had with him. Luigi will be truly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will be lovingly cherished by his family.

Services with be held at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, 3078 Renfrew Street in Vancouver. Prayers will be offered at 7:00 pm on Thursday, December 1, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, December 2, 2022, with Entombment to follow at Ocean View Burial Park in the South Mausoleum, Burnaby.
