Ms. Lee Choi-Wan Chan

我們親愛的母親李彩雲，於主曆一九二五年二月十六日出生於山東省萊陽縣李家屯，家中排行第三，有兄長及弟弟各二人。母親自幼聰明伶俐，品性善良溫厚，甚得我們外祖父母的特別疼愛照顧，在民國初年女性地位尚未被重視的時代，己經安排她接受良好的教育。母親從師範專科畢業後，曾在青島擔任小學老師的教育工作。

一九四七年母親與父親於山東青島結為連理，後因父親的工作關係移居上海，在那裏建立了一個溫馨的小家庭。在上海生活了三年後，於一九五零年中，為了逃避當時動盪不安的時局，毅然舉家南下移居香港。

由於外婆是虔誠的基督徒，媽媽從小被帶到聚會所學習聖經及聽神的話語，在移居港後定居於荃灣老圍村，就近加入了基督教信義會天恩堂，她生平最喜歡唱頌聖詩、閱讀聖經及為上帝作榮神益人的見證，靠着主耶穌的奇妙恩典，她一生都是蒙神特別眷顧喜悅的上帝女兒。

在香港生活三十年期間，父母親胼手胝足，從零開始打拼，勤奮工作，用無比的愛心撫養教育了我們兄弟姊妹共十人，亦建立了一個蒙福、充滿着基督的愛的大家庭。

一九八一年，為了讓還在學的子女們得到更好的教育環境和發展機遇，父母親再次秉承山東人勇於外闖發展的精神，舉家移民，落戶於北美洲山明水秀的加拿大溫哥華。在溫期間，母親非常喜歡及享受這美麗的花園城市的寧靜安逸生活。作為一個全職家庭主婦，她持家有道，悉心照顧一眾兒女及孫輩們的生活起居，懷著基督的愛一直都能夠保持健康體魄，樂天知命，十分享受兒女成群、子孫滿堂的家庭生活。

二零二二年十二月二十日，親愛的母親安詳地在睡夢中被慈愛的天父接返天家，安息主懷，享高壽九十有七，我們也實在感恩！

我們深信，母親和父親現在在神的國度裏，環顧着在各地的兒女和子孫們，在他們各自的領域貢獻社會，服務人群；他們還滿懷欣慰地為每一位子孫送上誠摯的祝福！

親愛的媽媽：深深感謝妳的養育之恩！我們愛妳！願你在主懷安息！妳慈愛、溫馨燦爛的笑容、誠懇響亮的說話語音、帶領我們頌唱謝飯歌的情境、以及妳戴上圍裙手袖捍麵捻造山東餃子饅頭的場景，都會一一深刻地存留在我們美麗回憶裏的！我們會永遠地懷念妳！

🔷 In loving memory of our beloved mother Choi Wan Lee

Our beloved mother Choi Wan Lee was born on February 16, 1925 in the Lee family village in Laiyang, Shandong. She was the middle child, surrounded by two older and two younger brothers. Intelligent and kind-hearted, she was loved and cherished by her parents. Despite the gender inequality during her time in China, she was sent to receive a good education. After graduating from an education college, she began teaching at a primary school.

Our mother and father married in 1947 in Qingdao. They later moved to Shanghai for our father’s work, and it was there that the family began to grow. After 3 years however, the family decided to move to Hong Kong in 1950 due to growing unrest at the time.

As our grandmother was a devout Christian, our mother was raised in the faith, studying the Bible and listening to God’s word since she was a child. When the family settled in Lo Wai in Tsuen Wan, she began attending services at the nearby Grace Lutheran Church. She loved singing hymns, reading the Bible, and bearing witness to God. As God’s beloved daughter, she led a life blessed by the wonderful grace of our Lord Jesus.

Over the course of 30 years in Hong Kong, our parents worked tirelessly to provide a loving Christ-centered home, a good life, and a quality education for all 10 siblings.

In 1981, in order to provide an even better educational environment for the children that were still in school, our parents once again took up the pioneering spirit of the Shandong people and moved the family once again to Vancouver in beautiful British Columbia. In Vancouver, our mother enjoyed a peaceful and serene life in a city surrounded by nature. As a full-time homemaker, she managed the family well, maintained good health, and raised her children and grandchildren, guiding everyone with the love of Christ.

On December 20, 2022, at the age of 97, our mother was taken in her sleep to the house of the heavenly Father. We are truly grateful that she is now able to finally rest in peace.

We firmly believe that our parents are now in the kingdom of God, watching all their children and grandchildren, sending them blessings and love as they serve their community, whatever they do, wherever they are.

Dear mother: Thank you for your guidance and kindness! We love you! We wish you rest peacefully in the arms of our heavenly Father! Your love, your warm and brilliant smile, your sincere voice of guidance, how you led us with the special mealtime prayer chant, and the way you would wear your apron, pull up your sleeve, and get to work making us Shandong style dumplings and steamed buns … all these scenes will forever be imprinted in the memories of all of us! We will miss you dearly!
