Mrs. Lit Yuen, Kim-Ying was born in Zhongshan, Guangdong province of China. She grew up in Vietnam and later returned to Zhongshan to receive her secondary and nursing education. She worked as a nurse and was later promoted to matron by the China Relief Association in 1940 during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Invasion.
After the War, Mrs. Lit moved to Hong Kong with her family and continued working as a nurse and midwife until she retired. In 1993, she immigrated to Vancouver to join her daughters at her late 70s and still kept herself active by joining ESL classes and interest clubs at SUCCESS.
Mrs. Lit predeceased by her husband, Lit Ying-Kai. She passed away peacefully at age 96 on October 22, 2010 at Villa Cathay Care Home. She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby.
