Ken was a great mentor and friend to me when I started working with him at the BCGEU.  He will be dearly missed.  My condolences and prayers to his family and loved ones. 

I have fond memories of Ken in his years as an activist and officer in the BCGEU. We worked together on many campaigns from the early 1980s through to the break of the millennium as Ken practiced his convictions of the struggle for rights of workers within  a union.  I recall  the (in)famous photo of Ken on a picket line in support of theatre workers.  We worked together on the BCGEU submission to the Gove Enquiry into child protection services. Then again on the establishment of the MCFD.

Ken made many contributions to the BCGEU, to the BC labour movement, and to workers.  Sadly, many of those contributions will soon be forgotten, but that does not diminish the value of them or the importance of Kenneth Michael Holmes' life.
