Kam Shi passed away peacefully on August 13th. He is survived by his children Lanna (Ed),
Linda (Terry), Lorraine (Edward), Carlo and Micky. He is also mourned by grandchildren Chris
(Erica), Andrew, Tristan, Geoffrey, Sarah, Corrie, Aidan, Markus and Claire. Finally, he will be
missed by great grandchild Theo.
Kam Shi was born in Po On, Guandong, China. In 1949, he moved to Hong Kong, where he met
Kim Hoi Lui. They eventually married in 1958. During his time in Hong Kong, he was a
storekeeper and a taxi driver. In 1973, Kam Shi and his family immigrated to Vancouver, BC.
Initially, he was a grocery store clerk in Chinatown. From 1977 – 1985, he owned and operated
convenience stores.
After retirement, he and wife Kim Hoi enjoyed condo living near Chinatown. He especially
enjoyed dim sum and multi-course Chinese dinners. In 2020, Kam Shi moved to Lakeview Care
Home. After over 60 years of marriage, he lost wife Kim Hoi in 2021. The family would like to
thank Lakeview Care Home for their compassionate care of Kam Shi during his final years.
