Jimmy was my boss, my friend and my family.  I was lucky enough to work for him and Mary for more than 20 years.  Saddened by this terrible loss.  Sending my condolences to Mary, Michael and family, Caroline and family and Ha.  So sorry I wasn't able to celebrate Jimmy's life with the family on Saturday.  My thoughts and prayers go to you all at this time.  Will talk to you all soon.  Lots of love to all.

We were all saddened to hear of the news of Jimmy passing away.  We always enjoyed the wonderful food at the Idylwild especially the chicken wings.  Jimmy would have a wonderful welcoming smile when he greeted our family.  We are sending our condolences  to Mary and all the family.

My condolences and hugs to the family,  I know he will be missed and your grief will be endless,  he'll also be missed by all of us that grew up in Houston. My fondest memory of Jimmy was the look he would give Mary when he had to cook when he didn't want to, lol, or the first time he asked me for my id just after I turned nineteen, he sure gave me that look as I'd been going into the bar for a few years prior to this... But most of all it was always the smile when he said hello, you knew no matter what, you were always welcome... ❤❤❤❤

I used to love going to the Idylwild when I was a kid, jimmy's warm smile and big hugs always made me feel happy and at home. Jimmy always had a box of toys for me to play with as a child and a job for me as a young adult. One thing I will never forget are his unbeleavable. chicken wings! I never got the recipe from him but I must've asked about a million times. I remember going to Prince George hospital with him one winter when he fell and broke his arm. I remember my first trip to the Idylwild bar and having to run over to the beer store to get cash back on my debit, slipping that cash to the bar tender and telling her to tell me when I had used it up so I could get more because Jimmy wouldn't let me pay. I remember his kind words when I started university and competitive martial arts. I remember my parents birthdays and kareoke nights in the lounge. I remember the iced wine and lobster Jimmy shared with me on Boxing Day during my first Christmas visit home from university. But my most cherished memory of Jimmy is simply his big, warm smile, and the way he would always say "Hi Michelle, you want chicken wings?" I will never forget Jimmy and I will always treasure the time I was fortunate enough to spend with this caring, kind, wonderful man. I first became friends with Jimmy and Mary when i went to work for them at the Idylwild in Houston, BC. in 1987. The friendship has endured all these years, and i will miss Jimmy immensely! I have many cherished memories, but what i will always remember most is his passing along life lessons ...this is the first one i can recall while he was sitting up at the bar with me during a quiet lull...." Dawn, i am very hungry; i have not eaten for many days. You have one penny....you give to me?" I was confused as he also owned a restaurant (😊) but nonetheless, i reached into my pocket. This was answered by Jimmy with a shake of his head....he asked me again, "You give to me?" I told him of course i would, but i was confused still. Jimmy then told me, " I know you will give to me...you are a good girl!" I guess i passed his test😊 I will carry your memory always Jimmy- you my friend, were a good man! xxo
