Jess, I remember vividly our late lunch at The Naam Restaurant in Kitsilano. You looked great and talked about your vegetarian diet.  You also talked about the love of Christ for you and others.  Prior to this, you were working on my laptop when you were still with Business Pro.

The last time Jesmon and I chatted, we were talking about him living in the Philippines again and starting our own business here. Everytime we chat, We talk about a lot of things and most of those things are happy dreams about the future. Yes, despite Jesmon's pain and struggles, he was a very optimistic person. He dreamt about a lot of things. In fact, most of the time, I forgot he was currently under a huge amount of pain. I would ask how's he doing and he would simply explain his most recent struggle for about 3 lines and then go back to his usual future talks. I usually know all updates about his condition even before we talk thru Uncle Jovalds' email and every single time, he would insist in sending him a copy of that email. I couldn't say no to him so I obliged. One time I got curious and asked him "why do you need those email? It's for our eyes only, Mok." These are his exact words: "Dili ko gusto magworry sila, Mik. Sila pirmi akong gina-alala". I would then insist na "masuko si uncle kung isend nako ni sa imo". His reply: "dili uy, mas empowerment noon na. Kay naay reason to live ba". He's in a lot of pain and all he could think is his family's well-being. I cried after reading those words and I'm still trying not to cry after he left. 

TO JESMON: I know our plans together will not push thru. Plans about having a family together and going around the world with them. Just thinking about it makes me sad but I will try to use your ever-positive aura and look at the bright side of things. Now you're free from any disease, pain and suffering. You left at a very young age but it's a well-lived life. Messages from your friends are very heart warming and most of them are very emotional. I know you're in a happy place right now. In heaven, please don't forget to look down on your parents and sisters and always keep them safe. I will miss you my brother. We, literally grew up together so I thank you for every experience, laughter, hangouts, mishaps, adventures we had together. Thank you for being my best man during our wedding, sadly, you haven't met my daughter but rest assured I will tell her our stories together growing up. I hope she will grow up as positive and happy as you. Rest in peace, EMOK!

Jesmon has truly been a great inspiration in my life.I'm so sad as i write this.I'm also so glad we got to say our last goodby over the phone,although there is so much more I would like say.The kindness and love he showed his friends and family is unmatched...This world would be a much greater place if every one was more like my cousin,my friend,my family Jesmon Valdez,
