Iu Fun Josephine Chiu

It is with great sadness we announce the matriarch of our family, Iu Fun Josephine Chiu, passed away peacefully at Mount St. Joseph Hospital on November 25, 2020. She lived a long, healthy, and full life. In May of 2020, she celebrated an amazing 101st birthday!

She is survived by her daughters: Shirline Mok and Christine Chiu; grandchildren: Christine Mok, Jonathon Mok (Lisa Mok), Jenny Cheung (Lam Wai Hung), Patricia Fung (Dennis Chee), and Warren Fung; and great grandchildren: Sebestian Mok, Christian Mok, Lorney Lam (Kiki Lam), Kayesha Fung, and Jasmine Lam.

Josephine worked at the Canadian Immigration Office in Hong Kong from 1951-1985 and retired to Vancouver to be with her youngest daughter, Christine. In May of 2019 she received awards of recognition from the Prime Minister of Canada and the Queen of England commemorating her 100 years of life.

She had a beautiful, infectious smile that could light up a room. If you were fortunate enough to be in her company, you would soon find yourself joking, laughing, and smiling with her.

She enjoyed playing mahjong with friends and on the Nintendo game system to keep her mind sharp. She took great pride in her appearance and it showed with her impeccable style. She believed you should always dress to impress no matter the occasion. She was very generous and donated regularly to Vancouver General Hospital.
