Harold
It has been almost a year since your passing and I miss you so, hardly a day goes by without speaking you name or thinking about what you would do in a certain situation. In fact there was a wonderful last rose of summer just the other day and my husband clipped it and put it beside your plaque that is on my stall door, it has a wonderful fragrance and oddly enough it is still fresh.
Harold my dear dear friend wish you were here to see the new ring and how well Zeus is moving and how happy he is with the new footing. I wish you could see all these new things for yourself.

Doreen, Peter & Sheryl Dutton were very shocked and saddened to hear the news of Harold's passing. He has been a good friend of the family together with Mina. Although we weren't into horses, we did share a love of the Royal HK Jockey Club and Beas River (wonderful place - we miss it so much).  Motor sport was the real passion we shared and Peter thanks Harold for all his help, support and advice with the rallying in HK, China & Kenya.
May you all have happy memories. 
We will miss him and the positive energy that he exuded even through an email or a letter.

I have learned a very sad news of passing away of Mr.Harold Lee, who has been a great help for us in the motorsport scene.
I wish to extend my deepest sympathy and condolences to bereaved.
Although any words would not relieve the pain of this great loss, I only pray that his spirit be calm and in tranquility.

Harold
I thought so much of you last night and how much fun we had over the last ten years, you were a really good teacher, not just in horses but life lessons as well. As good a teacher as you were you were  you were and even better friend.
I am going to try and approach things according to Harold try and live my life a little better and my friend it already is better because you were such a large part of it.
Instead of hurrying through my morning chores I am going to ask myself how would Harold do this he would take his time and enjoy every minute of it. Harold you found enjoyment from even the simplest of things, you always had a positive outlook on life. You looked at life like an adventure a gift so to speak. If I can think a little bit more like you I know I will get so much more out of life.
I am so very sad but I am so lucky for knowing you and to have the opportunity to share our love of horses together.
You were one of a kind Harold and touched so many lives you will be remembered with fondness and never forgotten.

I came to know Harold riding at Beas River.  He was the most even-tempered person I have ever met.  He always wore a smile and had laugher in his voice.  His devotion to riding and his horses was constant and obvious.  There was, about him, a sense of appreciation and enjoyment of life, and a rare quality of subtle humility in his approach.  

It was good to have known you.  Goodbye, Harold.

I am having a riding lesson first thing Monday morning and you know me I never ride when I have something important in case I fall and get injured; in all these years you have said to me no worries nothing will happen just have confidence in your horse. so Harold I am finally listening first thing Monday this ride is for you. This am I rode and Zeus was picky in the stall and I said to him would you do that to Harold.
Many thanks Harold for all that you have done for me, you will always be with me for one more ride.

I and my family are all deeply shocked to hear that my great and
longtime friend suddenly passed away. We would like to offer our
deepest sympathy and  heartfelt condolences.
It was during my first participation to the Grande Premio de Macau in
1965 that I got to know Mr. Lee. He continued to be my best friend and
a kind of my elder brother ever since.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

We are very sorry that Harold has left us. Having been thirteen years of neighbour we know he treasured his life, he enjoyed life. He was helpful and cheerful to others. He had set a good example to us.  Woon & Wah Wing

We are in deep sorrow  to see Harold pass away , but we have many many good memories of his talent and sense of humor. Harold and our family have been good friend and neighbor for almost 17 years, but actually we knew him long long ago in HK. We used to watch his car racing in Macau and ralley racing between HK and Peking.   We both families used to share cooking technique ,food and red and white wines and also fruits planted ourselves...  William & Ellen (PoCo.,BC)

We have known Harold since we moved to Skeena Street in 1994. We will miss his smile, kindness and reassuring presence.

We met Harold when he moved to our street always a cheerful person and always fun to chat with. Harold was one of the few our dog would let near him telling me what a good person Harold was. You will be missed but the time spent chatting with you will not be forgot.

We are deeply saddened to hear Harold Lee had left us.  We have been Harold’s family friends for close to 4 decades, and we were once neighbour in Yuen Long, Hong Kong.  Harold’s charm, friendliness, sportsmanship and determination will be missed.

Harold not seeing your car pull in at 2 min to 8 in the am hearing the sound of the horses whinny because the "Candy Man" has arrived, and not being able to share our morning passion as we have for the last decade has wrapped me in a blanket of sadness. The air seems lifeless and dull without the prospect of having you to share it with. Miss you

Harold was a morning ritual at our farm for many many years, riding our horses with courage and grace.
He had a zest for life always up for a laugh a true gentleman.
His generosity of spirit is second to none and we will miss him .

A mutual love of horses brought our families together growing up in HK; but Harold's exploits extended so much further: dogs, Show Jumping Judge, rally racing in China, active Rotarian; then extending that on to pusuits in Vancouver: shooting, more horses, wine making, ice cream making. It's been a priviledge and an extreme pleasure growing up with you Harold and so glad Doreen shared so many happy times with you here in Vancouver. We have been Uncle Harold's family friend for over 40 years. My dad used to work in Reliance Honda Hong Kong before his retirement & moved to Toronto.  I can still remember the first time my dad introduced me to Uncle Harold when my dad showed me Uncle Harold's "Tai Chung Hung" Automotive Maintenance Headquarters near the Happy Valley, Hong Kong.  As a young teen, I was fascinated by those beautiful European sport cars in the service bay, and the way Uncle Harold was running his busy operations.  After much moon years later, I learnt from MBA School that the way Uncle Harold ran his operation is how they define a highly efficient operation which manages by a leader whom is a high achiever, and a leader will protect his stakeholders' interests to the best.

The first time I met Uncle Harold on race track was in Macau in early 70s.  I was invited to join the dinner by Uncle Sam to meet with the Reliance Honda and Tai Chung Chong Racing Teams. I remember Uncle Harold was talking with my eldest brother Tony on how Uncle repaired my brother's Honda N600 after it had an roll-over accident during one of the consolidate races.  My brother was not hurt after his car rolled over several times at the end of the Macau straight with speed closed to 100 km/hr.  Thanks to those roll-bars built by Uncle Harold for my brother.  Harold was a life saver.

On early 80s, we returned to HK after school.  We had so many opportunities to do things with Uncle Harold family, Uncle Sam's family, and the Reliance Honda family.  Due to some reason, I could still recall details on the party Uncle Harold throw when the Lee family moved to a nice Townhouse in Yuen Long. It has been blessed to have some many opportunities to do so many things together among the families.  Uncle Harold was a family oriented person and a warm person to approach at any time.

The last time Silvia and I visited Uncle Harold and Aunt Mina was this past June.  Again, we got lost somewhere near Coquitlam.  PK called Harold for direction over the cell phone and Uncle Harold gave us the exact direction as if he was the navigator in our vehicle doing his Rally Race.  Uncle Harold was guidance.

On the same visit, Uncle Harold made a special brew of coffee just for me, it was so good especially delicious with Auntie Mina's fruit biscuit at same time.  Uncle Harold was a good chef and had good taste. 

His passion and inspiration on race cars had leaded me to work for Ford Motor Company as an Advanced Product Engineer, the job had allowed me the access to Ford test tracks to go fast, and as fast as the engine could go.  I could image myself a race driver at speed.

Uncle Harold Lee will meet My Dad in Heaven.

It was an honour and a priviledge Harold to call you one of my best friends. I remember when I took this picture a bear had been in the yard and took down the fences and in the am the horses were spooked and I thought you shouldn't ride but of course you did saying no problem Zeus is never a problem for me and you were right.
We met 5 days a week for 10 years you rode my horse you never let me down, you would always be there rain or snow a big bag of carrots and an even bigger smile. 
You had so many wonderful qualities, you were brave and so patient kind and gentle,you were so encouraging.
My mornings will never be the same without you.
I have one regret Harold and that is this is the summer I learned how to ride my horse and you never got a chance to see how confident I have become all thanks to you Harold.
