In 1967 they moved to Stellenbosch, South Africa. After Otto's retirement from the University of Stellenbosch they travelled to Canada as often as they could in order to spend time with Karin and her family. In 2001 she immigrated to Burnaby, Canada where she enjoyed once again a beautiful home and garden. She will always be remembered for her love for her family and friends, her cooking and baking, her joy of gardening, her cat and her knitting and sewing.
Hanna lived with the blood cancer Polycythaemia rubra vera for many years and bravely struggled with the resulting disabilities. For the last three and a half years she was lovingly cared for by the staff at Blenheim Lodge in Vancouver.
Hanna will be dearly missed by all, but she will always live in our hearts and memories.
