She is predeceased by her father Charlie On Hing, her mother Selaita Wai Nabia, and her younger sister Perina Lily Tom.
She is survived by her loving husband David Jack Fong; their 7 children, Elizabeth, Lorraine, Veronica, David, Patricia, George and Irene; sons in law, James, Jerry, and Lote; her daughter in law Rosana; 14 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; as well as her sister Nancy Hoeflich, and her brother George Tom, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins in Vancouver, Fiji, Australia and New Zealand.
Family and culture were very important to her. She had many self-taught talents, such as sewing, quilting and crocheting. Nellie was a faithful Catholic that prayed everyday. She loved flowers and nature and took pride in her garden during every summer. She welcomed everyone into her home and always wanted everyone to be together. She will be deeply missed.
