Elaine Kim Yee (nee Young) (September 3, 1939. - March 28, 2022). Born in Vancouver to Gilbert H. Young and Nellie Kim On Lee, she is predeceased by her eldest brother Clifford, and survived by her sister Marion, and twin sister Shirley.
After a long battle with cancer, mom peacefully passed on with her loving family and their partners by her bedside. Mom is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack; two sons, Brad (Brenda), and Richard (Kirk); three grandchildren, Brenden, Breanna, and Brittani. Many thanks to the grandchildren’s partners Ashley, Michael and Eric for their love, support assistance of “mama.” Some of our fondest memories of mama include playing word games together, learning how to play mahjong and seeing her enjoying a good dinner with the family.
Many times, mama expressed her gratitude to her nephew, Dr. William Siu, for all his care and support throughout her journey. The family would also like to thank the Palliative Care team from Fraser Health for their compassion and kindness as well as the doctors and nurses at Burnaby Hospital’s Palliative Care unit. Her nurse Winnie’s care and empathy during her last days was especially kind.
Mama was happy to see that her entire family was happy, successful, and had found wonderful partners that she was able to meet and grow to love. Mama, you will be missed, but now you can have a well-deserved rest without any pain.
We all love you, mama. Be at peace.
At her request, mama will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park on April 7, 2022 in a private service.
