In Loving Memory of Demetrio Vadala

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Demetrio Vadala on April 3, 2025, at the age of 91. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Austria, his son Domenico, daughter-in-law Patricia, and cherished grandchildren Demetrio and Maya. Survived by his sisters Lina, Nuccia, and brother Angelo and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his sisters Angelina, Franca, Mariettina, and brother Lorenzo.

Born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy, Demetrio later spent time in France with his brother before immigrating to Canada in 1963. He first settled in Victoria, British Columbia, eventually making Vancouver his permanent home. Proud of his Italian heritage, Demetrio passed on his culture and traditions to his grandchildren, who he adored.

Demetrio found joy in the simple pleasures of life—watching hockey, following the Vancouver Canucks, playing Italian cards at the café and with his grandchildren, and traveling in his younger years. His warmth, wisdom, and quiet strength will be remembered by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Bell & Burnaby Funeral Chapel, 4276 Hastings Street, Burnaby, BC.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Holy Cross Parish, 1450 Delta Avenue, Burnaby, followed by entombment at 2:45 PM at Ocean View Cemetery – South Mausoleum, 4000 Imperial Street, Burnaby, BC.
