Dear Coletta family, 

My heart goes out to you as you grieve the loss of your dear son. Daniel and I went to school together at Notre Dame. I have such a clear and lovely image of him etched in my mind; in his north face puffer jacket, walking down the hall with a big sweet smile and bright brown eyes. He was gentle and had such an easy-going way of being. He also gave the best hugs. I'll always remember him and that smile. 

May his memory be a blessing <3.

To the Coletta family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how hard this must be for you or that words will offer any comfort to ease your pain.

I met Daniel in high school, and when I think of him, I think of a light-hearted, easy-going guy who was always laughing and loved to joke around.

Speaking of joking around, when we were in grade 9, Daniel asked me if I would go to prom with him - 3 years early! I said yes, but wholeheartedly believed he was playing around.

Fast forward 3 years and a different high school later, and Daniel reminds me of this ask as grad plans were starting to form. 

I couldn't believe he remembered our conversation or was sticking to it, especially since we no longer went to the same high school. That being said, I was happy he did. 

We ended up going to grad together, just like we planned in grade 9, and we had a great time. Over the years, it was always something we'd laugh about, talking about how we stuck to our word. 

I wanted to share this story with you because it always makes me smile, and it's how I remember Daniel.
