I'm just learning of Tony's passing. What a soul. We dated over 30 years ago he has remained my friend.  I surprised him at the restaurant and we had lunch at  Carderos a few days later when I moved back from California.  A blessing to so many. Prayers for his daughter, grandchildren and family in 🇮🇹. 💔

Growing up my family would go to Anton’s almost every Friday night for dinner.  We would have to get there before 5pm, as the line up would always start to grow soon after that. So over the course of my childhood I can say that I’ve eaten a lot of Antons pasta! Despite not knowing Tony,  I want to thank him for creating a restaurant that made my family feel at home and let his family know that his restaurant and legacy did more than just deliver great pasta. He made it a place that is dear to my heart. He will be greatly missed.

I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to see you in the last 20 plus years, I always think and speak high of you, you always laugh enjoy life, respected, treaded me like a daughter, thank you you for being you and who you are you treat everyone with love, respect, kindness, You are Amazing Anton Tony, I will miss you. I always speak high of you and your food to everyone because I know it's the best pasta, sauces, dressings, tiramisu ever made the best Tony the Best I will miss not seeing you again but your always in my heart and when I eat your food  you will hug me with your love and your amazing delicious food, Anton Tony I'll miss you

I did not know Antonio personally, but I sure did love his restaurant, Anton's. 

in my heart, sadly, I know that this is another case of the last of the greatest generation that ever lived, now going home. 

may God bring respite to his family (esp. Lana 🩷), for the enormous loss he must have left. I'm sure the sorrow they feel is enormous - may God help to lesson this as the days pass by.

My condolences to Tony’s family and close friends!  I had one of my first part-time jobs in university @Anton’s and it really was like a second family to me! Hearing this news brings back some great and fun memories! Tony was a kind, generous and patient boss!  A great business owner who had a big heart for his community!  My sympathy again for your loss.

My heartfelt condolences  to Antonio's family and friends.  I grew up in  South Burnaby many years ago, and have many fond memories of living in Burnaby.  I haven't been to Antonio's restaurant as I live out of town but I'm sure I would have enjoyed being there also ♥   The comments I've read are very heartfelt - what a lovely man he was.

Dear Tony...
Thank you for being kind, smiling so cheerfully, and having such a big heart. Thank you for allowing me to share your little house in North Burnaby (with your beautiful daughter, Lana), (when I had nowhere else to go.) Thank you for feeding us not only with your delicious homemade pasta... but baptizing it with your loving soul. 

There were always line-ups outside your pasta bar ...not only because your food was so great, but was your spirit.  

I am saddened for your family; and Lana, your grand-son, and your grand-daughters. I am saddened for all who knew you.  
So many people loved you Tony.

We have wonderful memories of Tony when we would visit him in the comfort of his apartment. Always happy to see us with a beer or  some pasta or a toronne at Christmas. He was a lovely man, kindhearted and generous and a good friend, and we will miss him.

Many of you won’t know this, but “Tony” supported many disadvantaged youth in North Burnaby. I know this because I was one of them. He made us food, gave us a few bucks here and there, and was the most empathetic listening I, along with many had. My sincerest condolences to his family. What a significant loss for the world.

This is very sad news to hear about antonio. He was a great friendly guy with a very busy restaraunt  and many people loved him and his food. Very sad to hear antonio passed away ✝️  RIP antonio you will be greatly missed by your family friends and customers

I’m so sad to hear about Tony passing away. My Condolences to Lana and the whole Mauro family, Peace be with You. I have known Tony since I was 17. This picture of Tony was in the mid 70’s at his nightclub where I first met Tony (that is me with the Afro) and ended up working for him. Tony was always an Entrepreneur and wore many hats in his life. Anton’s was his biggest hat. You could never see Tony without a smile or a chocolate in his pocket. He always was generous and forgiving even when many people took advantage of his generosity he just let it go. I will miss you Tony till we meet again.

When we moved into Stratford Place in the West End Tony was already living here. That was over 30 years ago!  We have been neighbours for that long and now, sadly, there is a huge void where Tony once was.  He was such a vibrant,  kind, loving, generous person.  He never ever spoke ill of anyone.  When we renovated our apartment right at the beginning Tony appeared almost nightly with a full package for us for dinner.  He knew we had no kitchen so there he was helping us out with such a kind heart.  When we had social functions in the building Tony supplied alot of the food.  Again, with such a kind and generous heart.  I will miss seeing him on the seawall, I will miss seeing him coming in from his car with such a sweet smile on his face and arms wide open for a lovely big hug.  That was the Tony we all loved and that is the Tony we will all miss so much.  Rest in peace you beautiful man.  You will always, always be in our hearts.   June and Nelson Quiroga

I’m sad to hear of Toni’s passing, he was a beautiful person and made a big impression on my life. 
I worked at Antons at the tiny location in the mid 80s. I have many fond and funny memories including making pasta sitting in the window. Everyone passing by would stop to watch. 
Laughing and joking with April and customers while I helped him make the most amazing food ever ! 
I learned a lot, had fun and felt like a family member. I will never forget Toni and my time at Antons.
