Joseph Medina Armendariz passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024. He was 94 years old. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to Apolonio and Catalina Armendariz. He was a veteran who served the U.S. Army for 3 years and was on the front lines in the Korean War. He earned the rank of Corporal in the Army and was asked to extend his services to stay on in Germany but declined and chose family life. He worked at Ralph's warehouse for 25 years and was a foreman before retiring. He was proud to have been interviewed and included in the “Mexican American Baseball in the San Fernando Valley” book published in 2015. He was predeceased by his wife, Amelia, son Anthony and siblings Manual, Emelia (Hassenplug), Louis, and Ralph. He is survived by his siblings Patrick and Ernest, seven children, Danny, Michael, Patricia (Kennedy), Catherine (Mayes), Joseph Jr, Ann Marie (Ising) and Margaret (Petherbridge); 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
Joseph's funeral services will be held at Villa Scalabrini Retirement Center on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 9:30 AM, followed by the committal at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
