Beloved Mother, Wife, Sister and Daughter, Jeannie Louise Mazzola passed away Tuesday April 19, 2011 at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Burbank, California after a long and courageous battle with Breast Cancer. Jeannie was 59 years old.
Jeannie was born May 9.1951 to Fred and Phyllis Vanleeuwen at St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank. Jeannie spent her childhood in Encino, California where she attended local schools and graduated from Grant High School in 1969. She married Sterling Strobel in 1970 and started a journey as a Navy wife. They had 3 children, Renee, Chris and Fred. Jeannie and Sterling divorced in 1980.
Jeannie and Tony Mazzola were married December 5, 1980 in Boise, Idaho and continued the journey. A new addition to the family, Marian came along and together they moved 13 times to duty stations and cities in California, Idaho and South Carolina.
Jeannie was a devoted mother and homemaker. Jeannie was a popular neighborhood mom in all of the neighborhoods and was loved by hundreds of neighborhood kids.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of 30 years, Tony, sons in law and daughters Orion and Renee Wyrick, Chris and Kim Strobel, Chris Simmons and Marian Mazzola, Fred Strobel and Tiffany Steinberg and grandchildren Elizabeth Wyrick and Gregg Strobel. She is also survived by her father, Fred Vanleeuwen and sisters Cathy Vanleeuwen and Laura Beckman. She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Vanleeuwen.
A memorial service for Jeannie will be held at Valley Funeral Home, 2121 W. Burbank, Boulavard, Burbank Ca. 91505.
