Jim was born in Oak Park, IL on October 21, 1952 to the late Dorothy and William Shaw. After his parents divorced the family moved to Southern California where Jim graduated from High School.
He began his 44 year professional career as an electrician following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. Jim was well respected in his industry making countless friends throughout his lifetime.
Jim was a passionate supporter of AYSO soccer serving as a coach, referee and board member. He also volunteered his time and expertise in other ways including Habitat for Humanity and building floats to represent Burbank in the annual Tournament of Roses Parade.
They say you can learn a lot about a person by how they handle lost luggage and tangled Christmas tree lights. Jim was ever so patient and handled these things with calm and perseverance. As a father Jim was always an excellent teacher, kind, loving, calm and laid back. All of his children have learned how to build things and fish from him.
Jim is survived by his father, William, sister Pat, brother Ron, his loving wife April and their blended family of four children, Charles, Ryan, Matt and Jennifer as well as six grandchildren. He will be remembered as a good man, a wonderful husband and father.
