A longtime resident of Burbank, passed away at the age of 90 (22.5) on Thursday, May 24, 2018. He was born in Los Angeles, CA. on February 29, 1928. He was raised in the South Bay and graduated from Mount Carmel High School in Los Angeles. After working in the elevator business for 45 years, he retired from International Union of Elevator Constructors, local IUEC 18.
Frank loved to play golf. He was known to bet on a pony or two at the local race track or you could find him putting coins into a slot machine at his favorite casino! We all knew if it was 7:00pm you weren't allowed to call, because Jeopardy was on, if wanted a short conversation, which never happened, you could call him at 6:58pm! He was a jokester, he loved to tell jokes to anyone that would listen!
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Louise Vollmer and his brother Leroy! He is survived by his partner, Gloria Hall, of 35 years and the mother of his 7 children, Bertha, his children whom he adored: Stephanie (Ken) Thomas, Victoria Higgins, Julia Bassine, Frank III (Donna) Vollmer, Debra Sloyer, Richard (Elaine) Vollmer and Kathleen (Dudley) Leslie; 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, sister Mary Louise Brewer, brother Alfred (Dixie) Vollmer and many, many nieces and nephews.
He touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all! Frank's ashes will be spread at various locations. "You are now riding the biggest elevator ever, straight to heaven to be with all your loved ones."
