Dorothy was born in Letchworth England on July 29th, 1926. She graduated school at the age of 14 and went to work the very next day. Dorothy married her first love, Horst Knackstedt, in 1948 and emigrated to the United States in 1961 in search of a better life for their family. Horst passed away in 1980. They are survived by their four children: Allon, Susan, David, and Marion. Dorothy went on to fall in love with and marry Randy Walker who also precedes her in death.
Dorothy was always ready to put the kettle on for a good cup of tea and a game of Scrabble, she was the queen of seven letter words. She spent the last years of her life doing what she loved best, creating with her hands. Whether gardening, cross-stitching or knitting she was always creating beauty for others to enjoy. Dorothy was lovingly cared for in these years by her daughter-in-law Kathy Knackstedt. It was through this dedicated care that Dorothy’s wishes were honored, and she was able to stay in her long-time home in Eagle Rock, LA, California, until her final sleep.Dorothy is further survived by her 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren to whom she will always be lovingly referred to as “Nanny”
