  Even though you have passed to heaven to  be with all our family members that have made it there, I know you will always be watching us.You will be watching us with your great character & fabulous sense of humor that we all loved you so much for.  You just really seemed to "GET" all of us ,even since we all were Children ,and in  times of Chaos in the Family ,you brought peace & understanding like no one ever could. Your love and support for us was never ending . Not that you ever had to ,but you just had the inner knowledge given to you by God , like no one we know. You lived life as we all should learn from , if we have any of the Love and Given Wisdom you were "BLESSED" with. We are devastated that the Lord has taken your short life from us, but what he intended for you , you sure made it work! Your looks are Phenominal & that came from your beautiful parents that we miss very much. You were always a friend when it was needed & somehow in your dreams & thoughts we always felt your presence . That we were always thought of dearly by you & of course "You" by all of us makes it O.K. for you to pass to the new life , Free to continue your Journey that makes your life Complete as a perfect person. Nothing but Love and ever fantastic memories remain with us still here on earth for you and what you had become here with all of us. We know our tears for your departure would be wiped away with understanding and gratitude by you if we still had the chance to ever speak with you again if lifes circumstances had been a different reality of losing you. When Carla and I first started working together more than 25 years ago, I often told her we would probably turn off the lights and ride off into the sunset together when our time came.  Now, she's gone ahead of me.  Whoa Carla! Wait up!

It might seem wierd to people but we never really called her "Aunt" Carla. I think it was because she was so young when Derrick, Danielle and I were born she didnt want us to say it hee hee. I have so many memories of being with her all of which I can hear her wonderful laugh. When I turned 10 she took me shopping to Casual Corner one of her favorite stores back then, put make up on me and curled my hair for my birthday party. I will never forget that feeling of looking in the mirror crying and how pretty she made me. I felt like an ugly duckling turning into a swan. Carla was a really good aunt and I am thankful she was mine.I know she is with all her family in heaven telling them all about us. The last 5 months were so hard on her and everyone but I truely believe she felt so much love and that makes me smile. How I wish I could tell her one last time how much she truely will be missed although Derrick, Danielle and I made sure to tell her over and over again when we were with her on her last night. She even told us back by knodding her head. All my love to you Aunt Carla you will forever be in my heart and I will miss you so very very much!

TO THE CARBON FAMILY.  I FIRST MET CARLA WHILE ENROLLED IN THE PARALEGAL PROGRAM AT LOS ANGELES CITY COLLEGE IN THE 1970's.  HER MOTHER, ANTONETTE WAS ALSO ENROLLED.  THE TEACHER WOULD CALL THE ATTENDANCE ROLL AND WOULD SAY: "ANTONETTE CARBONE".  SHE WOULD REPLY: "THAT'S CARBON".  THEN THE TEACHER WOULD SAY: "CARLA CARBON" AND CARLA WOULD SAY: "NO, THAT'S CARBONE".  THE CLASS WOULD GIGGLE EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. BECAUSE IT WAS AN ITALIAN THING, I WAS INTERESTED IN MEETING THESE TWO CLOWNS AND THE REST WAS HISTORY.  I BECAME VERY CLOSE TO CARLA ESPECIALLY AFTER HER MOM DIED AND BECAME ONE OF THE "CARBONE" FAMILY FOR ALL THESE YEARS.  I, FOR ONE, HAVE NEVER CALLED THEM THE "CARBONS" BECAUSE, AS IT WAS FOR CARLA, THEY WERE THE "CARBONES".  CARLA YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL OF US.  WE LOVE YOU.

I had the pleasure of working with Carla for 25 years.  More important, she was my cherished friend.  

There are too many reasons to list why I will miss Carla, but I would like to share a few.  

I will miss how she always wore just the right amount of fragrance, beautiful jewelry and put together color coordinated fashion ensembles she would gladly model at any given moment.  

I will miss the guilty pleasure of the loud and out-of-control laughter many of us shared at the firm. Often, someone, primarily Ralph, would remind us to cool it because it was unbecoming of a “professional corporation.”   In many cases, he, like others, couldn’t help but to be drawn into Carla’s sense of humor and contagious laughter.   

I will miss how Carla would make fun of me at every opportunity, but she would always tell me she wouldn’t do so if she didn’t love me.  

I will miss the wild excuses for being late to work supposedly directed to me but shouted out in the opposite direction toward Jeff’s office, our attendance director and tardy monitor.   I also remember Bob, another attorney she worked with for many years, saying “Carla, the only way you wouldn’t be late is if we operated on Guam time.”  

I have already been missing the times when Carla and Ken would break out dancing and singing show tunes such as  “Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.”  

I will miss the homemade lasagna, chicken Parmesan, inside-out ravioli, key lime pie and pumpkin cookies.  

I will miss her nagging starting as early as August about preparations for Halloween.  I will NOT miss the obnoxious laughing hanging bat.  

I will miss the old family recipe Italian cookies that not only were incredibly delicious but said Merry Christmas and I love you.  Carla gave the cookies to me to share with my family. My husband, Tony,  would call Carla early in December to ask: “Where are my Italian cookies?”  Excuse me!  . . . Hmmmm!   “My”????? Italian cookies!

More than anything, I will miss that she was always there to offer her friendship, support and kindness at times when needed most.   Carla was Carla.  She could be a little tough on the outside at times especially when expressing her opinions, but she also possessed a huge heart she generously shared with people she loved. 

So, to my buddy Carla, I will miss you forever.  However, I know you never overcame the sudden loss of your beloved Jim, father, mother and brother.  I am comforted in knowing there was enough time for you to realize how much others cared for you and that you are no longer suffering.  

The Angels in Heaven are about to get the best shop steward ever.  Joe must be thinking “God:    You are in big trouble!  This is gonna cost you.”

Rest in Peace dear Carla.  You have been a wonderful friend and you will truly be missed by those of us who were fortunate enough to have you in our lives.  We will meet up again someday!!
