Michel Joseph Dumont

Mike grew up in West Torrance, California with his older brother, Paul. Mike and Paul were proudly raised by their parents, Joseph and Nell Dumont. Mike attended West High School in Torrance and graduated in 1970. After high school, he worked at the local Builders Emporium selling lumber and building up his knowledge of construction. This is also where he met his future wife Frances Benfatti. Mike and Fran were married in 1972 and became the proud parents of William “Bill” and Tony Dumont.

The Dumont family moved to the city of Irvine in January 1976, where Mike began working in construction. He eventually became a Licensed General Contractor and started his own business. Mike worked as a general contractor for over 30 years. He proudly taught his boys as much as he could about building and construction industry when they were growing into young men. Mike also loved to coach Bill and Tony’s youth sports teams, which included soccer and baseball. Mike always worked very hard to provide a stable life for his family in Irvine.

Mike was married to Frances for almost 30 years, but they parted ways in 2000. He relocated to Phoenix, AZ for over a decade and then moved to Bullhead City around 2015 where he met his partner Christine Michaels. He spent the last 7 years of his life in love and devoted to Christine. Christine and Mike have been very involved in their church, Saint Ann’s, which is in the city of Needles. They enjoyed spending time with friends on the river, watching sunsets together, eating out, and traveling together. Many of their road trips were back to California to visit Mike’s boys and his grandchildren.

Mike is survived by his two sons, Bill Dumont (wife Laura) and Tony Dumont (wife Katie); his three grandchildren: Miller, Monique, and Ryan; his ex-wife, Fran Dumont; his brother, Paul Dumont with his two daughters; and his cherished partner Christine Michaels. Christine described her beloved in these words: “Mike was a giver and always ready to lend a hand. He was a humble, strong, and proud man.” The Dumont family will always be grateful to Christine for patiently caring for Mike during the last few difficult years of his cancer battle.

A celebration of life ceremony for Mike Dumont will be held at Saint Ann Catholic Church, 218 “D” Street, Needles, CA 92363, at 12:30 pm on Saturday, April 29, 2023. This service will be followed immediately by a burial at the Needles River View Cemetery, 1001 E. Broadway Avenue, Needles, CA 92363.
