death by his father, Anthony Michael Colonna, Grandparents James and Sheila Mesa and
beloved cousin Matthew Mesa.
Michael was a writer , writing a book he wanted to publish called “The Struggle” detailing his life
for “at risk” youth so they would not make the same mistakes he did as a youth. Michaels mom
is going to finish and publish this book for him. Michael had recently gotten out of the Prison
System, where he suffered a traumatic brain injury that resulted in him living with seizures for
the rest of his life, he had been released 8 months prior to his death that was caused by a
seizure. He was doing great and enjoying life and was coming home to visit Santa Cruz on Oct
9 (the day his parole was ending). He loved the water whether it was the Colorado River or the
Pacific Ocean. He loved to swim, listen to music, hang out with his friends and BBQ but most of
all he loved his family. He could not wait to come home and see everyone. He wanted to make
a point of getting everyone together as family. Michael strived for doing good and making the
right choices moving forward in his life. It is truly a heartbreaking loss that he never got to see
so many of his family and friends as he wished and his life was cut short before this happened.
Michael is greatly missed but is forever at peace and reunited with many loved ones he missed
dearly and will forever remain in our hearts and souls. A celebration of Michael's life will be held
at a later time TBD. To keep in contact of these dates you may contact his mother
