Edwin (Mike) Owen Klostrich, 77 passed away on February 9th 2023 at his daughter and son-in laws residence in Bullhead City, AZ. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by his sudden death due to cancer diagnosed on Jan 9th.
Mike was born in Jamestown ND, to Edwin and Catherine (McGruder) Klostreich on August 7th, 1945. He grew up on a farm east of Medina ND with his two brothers. He graduated from Medina high school in 1963. Spent one summer working the railroad with his brother Duane and then went on to Moler Barber School in Fargo, ND. After completing Barber School he moved to Miles City, MT where he spent a short time with his brother Vern and joined the 163rd armored calvary.
He then moved on to Ennis and then West Yellowstone where he met Dixie and made that their home. He owned and operated City Barber Shop and Styling in West Yellowstone until 1994. During that time, he was always into some sort of additional business he had a pawn shop, started a used car business, firework sales, snowmobile racing, and real estate. He and Dixie owned the Running Bear Pancake House from 1980 until 2012 when Matt and Kelly talked them into retirement, and they took over the business. Mike’s job at the restaurant was “Socializing” he never met a stranger. Loved to tell stories and talk anything snowmobile. Even there he was selling snowmobile pipes, motors, seats etc… always wheeling and dealing. He was definitely considered a snowmobiling enthusiast he knew all the racers, dealers, makes, models and rode every day in the winter season. He would lead anyone that would follow. In the warmer seasons he and Dixie enjoyed boating with friends on Hebgen, Lake Powell, Mead, Mohave, and Havasu. He loved to take his grandson Tristen fishing, bike riding, and of course snowmobiling. In 2012 they decided to trade the snowmobiles in for a golf cart and became snowbirds in Bullhead City, AZ. Some friends introduced them to River View RV Park, and they bought a home on the golf course. This quickly became their “Happy” place they loved to golf, dance, and go to all social gatherings he joined the Elks and made so many friends. Mike is survived by his amazing wife Dixie (Hermanson) of 54 years; and one daughter Kelly (Matthew) Burden of West Yellowstone, MT; Grandchildren: Tristen Owen Burden & Fiancé Abby Weiderstrom; Kyle Burden, Tara (Doug) Umnus, Cameron (Ashley) Burden, Rachael Burden and 7 great grandchildren.
