Sylvia Jane (Havel) Polansky, 75, was welcomed into Gods kingdom on Tuesday, July 20, 2010. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, with Reverend Monsignor John A. McCaffrey as celebrant. Visitation for Sylvia will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Sylvia was born on July 17, 1935 in Caldwell, Texas to Frank and Frances Havel. She spent most of her life in Bryan, where she was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Sylvia married her lifelong soul mate, E.R. “Bobby” Polansky II, on February 6, 1954 and together they shared 51 years of love and family. Sylvia and Bobby had three loving children, Ernest “Bob” Polansky III, of College Station, Renee Polansky Taylor of Caldwell, and Zyna Polansky of Bryan. Sylvia also shared the joy of having a granddaughter, Jaime Hines Garrett and three great-grandchildren, Kaili and Kyle Kelley and Colton
Garrett, all of Caldwell.
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Polansky; her mother, Francis Kubin Havel and her father, Frank Havel; a sister, Dorothy Sweat; brothers, Edward Havel and Hubert Havel.
We will always remember our Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great- Grandmother, as a vivid member of the community.
She started a grassroots election district for the Westwood / Pinewood residential areas and for the past 40 years of conducted and organized elections for the City of Bryan and Brazos County. She retired from the Brazos County Courthouse as a Deputy County Clerk, and was a devoted member to her faith community at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan. Sylvia was a strong woman, committed to her family, ensuring that her children knew no-bias as she installed in them a sense of individualism, nationalism and pride. Sylvia loved family gatherings, sharing life with family and friends, including some of her favorite times in Las Vegas, Colorado, Hawaii, and Alaska.
She is survived by her son and two daughters, Ernest “Bob” Polansky III of College Station and his girlfriend, Linda Freeze, Renee and Rob Taylor of Caldwell, Zyna Polansky and friend, Dawn Parker, of Bryan; granddaughter, Jaime and Cliff Garrett; and great –grand children, Kaili, Kyle and Colton of Caldwell; two brothers, Andrew Havel and his wife, Lee-Marie, of Malakoff, Texas and Raymond Havel and his wife, Beverly, of Hearne; brothers-in-law, Waldie Soslik and Barnie Cash; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
We will all hold dear, our special memories shared in life. Our hearts are at peace knowing she in now in the gentle
hands of our Lord and reunited with her loving husband, Bobby Polansky.
