Sallie McNulty, age 87, of Bryan, Texas passed on surrounded by her family at her home on the morning of July 14, 2023. Sallie was born to Johnnie and Sallie Purcell in Ennis, Texas on April 23, 1936, and was the youngest of six children. Sallie went to school in Ennis, Texas and during her childhood would spend summers with her sisters in Tomball, TX where she first met her husband, Carl. They later married on May 3, 1958 where she became Carl’s “Long Tall Sallie”, and had three beautiful children.
Sallie worked as a nurse for many years and continued to care for her family after retiring. Sallie enjoyed camping, traveling, reading, sitting on her swing outside, and constantly rearranging the furniture in her house much to the dismay of Carl. She spent a week RV camping with her grandchildren for many summers and ensured that everyone always had a stocking at Christmas with their name on it. Sallie was such an attentive listener and generally only gave her opinion when asked. She adored her family and even more her husband as they renewed their vows shortly before their 65th wedding anniversary.
Sallie is preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Sallie Purcell; her sisters, Helen Sojourner, Dorothy Emerson, and Sister (Martha) Thornhill; and her brother, Jack Purcell.
Sallie is survived by her husband, Carl McNulty; her sister, Alice Neal of Granbury; her children, Carl McNulty (Nita) of Normangee, Pam Simmons (Doug) of Bryan, and Mike McNulty (Sara) of Magnolia; and her grandchildren, Kristin Sajewski (JJ) of Normangee, Courtney Bailey (Justin) of Magnolia, Maranda Martin (Vann) of Magnolia, Taylor Brocksmith (Klint) of Bryan, Kyle Simmons of Bryan, Makenna McNulty (Josh) of Magnolia. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Colton Sajewski, Cade Sajewski, Coastan Logan, Emery Bailey, Mayson Logan, and Caybree Martin; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The family would like to thank Crestview Skilled Nursing and Hospice Brazos Valley for their exceptional care over the past few months. Also, they would like to thank everyone for their prayers and kind words during this time.
