An Altar Society Rosary will be recited at 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 31st, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Visitation will continue until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 1st at St Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan. Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Cemetery. Monsignor John Malinowski and Deacon Andy Perrone will be officiating.
Rosie was born April 19, 1935, the daughter of Nita (Church) Fazzino and Pete Fazzino. She was one of seven children born and raised in the Steele Store area of the Brazos Bottom where her family farmed cotton and raised cattle. Like several of her sisters, Rosie met and fell in love with one of the young men stationed at Bryan Air Force Base (now TAMU Riverside Campus). She married Jack D. Briggs in January of 1953 and gave birth to her first of three children in November of that year. After living in Lafayette, Indiana for ten years, the family moved back to Bryan where they raised their children. Rosie enjoyed the family garden and loved canning fruits and vegetables. Her dewberry pies were amazing.
Rosie loved to stay busy and as her children grew up and left home, she found work outside the home. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Cyclotron Institute at TAMU. Rosie became a “second mom” for many Texas A&M students that were sometimes homesick and needed a mother’s love, caring and sometimes advice. She later worked for ANCO insurance where she developed close friendships with many of her co-workers. During these later years in life Rosie met and married Edward Sebek.
Rosie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered for her unending prayers for family and friends. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan where she was very active in church activities and organizations including the Altar Society. Rosie’s love for her children and grandchildren had no limits and her entire life was devoted to her Lord and her family. She was happiest with a house full of family and friends all sitting around her table enjoying her delicious Italian meals and desserts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and sisters, Kathryn Marino and Dorothy Cummings.
Survivors include her husband Edward Sebek; children, Bill Briggs & his wife Shannon of Caldwell, Jerry Briggs & his wife Herlinda of Gause, Mary Praytor & her husband David of College Station; sisters, Bennie Belknap of Lavonia, Michigan and Mary Hardin of Granbury, Texas; brothers Johnny Fazzino & his wife Phyllis of Bryan and Pete Fazzino & his wife Cindy of Bryan; grandchildren, Melissa Briggs, Leslie Darling, Ashley Gilbert, Denise Bollig, Monica Briggs, Lindsey Field, Logan Praytor and Jessica Praytor; and 13 great grandchildren.
