Rachel was born on October 2, 1930, in Bryan, Texas, where she spent her life working, raising a family, and developing numerous friendships before moving to Dallas a year following the passing of her husband.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin High School, she attended secretarial school acquiring, among other skills, typing and the virtual lost art of shorthand.
With a career beginning at Beverly Brailey’s ladies’ clothing store, Rachel moved into the banking industry, starting with First Bank and Trust. During her career she held various positions as a teller, bookkeeper, and bank officer before her eventual retirement from Citi Bank in 2008.
One of her numerous enjoyments came from being a founding member of El Club Social with the many ladies with whom she would create life-long friendships. Of her many pleasures, her greatest joy came from raising and guiding her kids to succeed in their lives through discipline and hard work, as well as, appreciating playing with and watching her grandkids and great-grandkids grow and mature.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, Rafael and Nicolasa Vivero; brothers, Elias Vivero and David Vivero; her beloved husband, Thomas Medina; and her youngest daughter Yolanda “Lana” Medina. She is survived by sons, Tommy Arthur Medina and wife Rachel, Richard Medina and wife Laurie, Roland Medina and wife Lisa; and her daughter, Linda Ann Medina; as well as, her six grandkids, Michelle Gonzalez and partner Miguel Alaniz, Joseph Medina and wife Diana Hoshall, Marcus Medina and wife, Ashley, Julian Medina, Amy and husband Gary Brenders, Leslie and husband Matt Phillips; and seven great-grandkids.
