After a long, valiant battle with cancer, Phillip Eugene Sabo, age 52, passed into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on Monday, September 7, 2015, in Forney, Texas. His grace, acceptance and positive attitude during this difficult time was an amazing example for us all.
Phillip was born in Bryan, Texas, on August 24, 1963, to Phil and Jessie Faye Glover Sabo. He graduated from Bryan High School in 1981 and attended Texas A&M University. He moved to the Dallas area and began his career with AT&T where he retired after 32 years of service. While working at AT&T, he met his lifelong love, Evelyn Taylor, whom he married in 1996.
Phillip’s life was a celebrated life, full of joy and laughter, rich with family and friends, and characterized by his genuine interest in other people and an observant eye that never missed a thing. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. He was quiet, deeply caring, and fiercely supportive of his family and loved ones. He was multi-faceted man who loved many things including sports (particularly Texas A&M and the Texas Rangers), fishing, horses, music, sunrises and sunsets, and the formation of clouds. For several years he worked as an usher at the A&M games at Kyle Field and enjoyed that job immensely.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Phil Sabo; grandparents, Willard and Hattie Lehman Glover, and Frank and Lucile Sabo Parker; an aunt, Lottie Louise Bond; and cousin, Errol Burt Picone.
He is survived by his mother, Jessie Sabo of Easterly; sisters, Maxine Dean of Clute and Phyllis James of Wheelock; wife, Evelyn of Forney; three sons, Phillip Sabo II of Bryan, Nathan Sabo of Forney and Nicholas Taylor of Beeville; daughter, Jessica Sabo and granddaughter, Haven Gallegos of Cleburne; as well as numerous other family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or Faith Presbyterian Hospice, 6100 Colwell Blvd., Suite 225, Irving, Texas 75039.
