Nina Rose Lewallen, 74, of Bryan, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The funeral service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Memorial Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery in Abilene, Texas.
Nina was born December 13, 1938 in Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Elmer and Fannie (Coffman) Ray. She was married to A.B. “Lew” Lewallen. Nina and Lew moved to the Bryan area in 1985. She was a homemaker for many years, until her children were older; she then worked part-time at retail stores, day care centers and as an usher for Texas A&M sporting events. Nina was a loving and caring wife, devoted and wonderful mother, grandmother and a loyal and cherished friend. She was a committed Christian and by her example served many.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Elmer Ray, Jr. and Thomas Ray.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 46 years, A.B. “Lew” Lewallen; three children, Linda Andrews and her husband, Gary of Katy, TX, Ernest Lewallen of Abilene, TX, Stefaine Bestor and her fiancé David Voohries of Longview, TX; five grandchildren, Austin and Michael Andrews, Aaron Lewallen, Sean and Taylor Bestor; and her brother David Ray of Ridgeland, MS.
