It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mercedes Adams, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She passed away on May 28 at the age of 77 at her home in Bryan.
Mercedes Adams was born in Monterrey, Mexico but moved to the United States at a young age. She grew up in Texas and was proud of her Mexican heritage. She worked hard throughout her life, but her greatest accomplishment was raising her children and taking care of her family.
Mercedes was known for her kindness, generosity, and her delicious cooking. She loved God and spending time with her family. Mercedes dedicated her entire life to helping others. She was a beacon of hope and kindness, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her unwavering compassion and generosity touched the lives of her family, friends, and coworkers. She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face.
Mercedes is predeceased by her son, Bobby Adams; parents, Ascension and Rosa Almanza; brother, Jose Antonio Almanza; son-in-law, Jerry Lloyd; parents-in-law, Pedro and Julia Adams; sisters-in-law, Marcela Mendoza, Josephine Adams, and Olivia Gomez; and brothers-in-law, Paul Gomez and Frank Aguirre.
Mercedes is survived by her husband, Gilbert Adams; daughters, Irene Martinez, Lisa Lloyd, and Crystal Adams; sons-in-law, Manuel Martinez and Ozgur Bozkurt; grandchildren, Michael Martinez, Valerie Marsteller, Daniella Martinez, Gabrielle Lloyd, Isabella Lloyd, Christian Lloyd, and Colette Bozkurt; four great-grandchildren; and nine brothers and sisters. She will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 6 pm until 7 pm, Friday, June 2, 2023 with the Rosary recited at 7 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bryan. Mercedes will be laid to rest at Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
