Mary Frances Zwernemann, 100, of Bryan passed away Monday October 19, 2015 at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 23rd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with Reverend Monsignor John McCaffrey officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, October 22nd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan with a Rosary being recited at 6:30 P.M. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mary was born in Dime Box, Texas on August 7, 1915 to J. J. and Frances Zgabay Hejtmancik. She attended school in Deanville, Texas and worked on the family farm picking cotton. She met and married Emil Zwernemann in 1934 and they eventually moved to Bryan in 1952. She worked in the Cafeteria for Bryan I.S.D. until she retired and began raising cattle on her ranch in West Brazos County. She loved raising cattle so much, that eventually they all became her pets.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bryan, and was a member of the Altar Society and the Rosary Society. She enjoyed lunch at Age Managers at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she loved Polka Music. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and loving friend. She was known for her feisty personality and loving spirit.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Emil; brother, Lee Hejtmancik; sister, Milady Hovorak; nephew, Delbert Hovorak; and great-grandson, Cade Willis.
She is survived by her daughter Lois Kindt and husband Henry of Bryan; grandson, Christopher D. Willis and wife Beth of Bryan; nephew, Alan Hejtmancik; great-nephew, David Hovorak; and great-niece, DeAnne Bellott.
The family wishes to give a special thank you to the entire staff of Hospice Brazos Valley for caring for and loving Mary, just like she was their own.
