

Lyndel Nolan Beene, 68, of Bryan, passed away at his home on February 27, 2010 with his family by his side. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Central Baptist Church in Bryan. Burial will follow at Martins Prairie Cemetery.
Lyndel was born March 23, 1941 in Keith Community, Grimes County to Charlie and Ida Eddie Beene. He graduated from Iola High School before attending Sam Houston State University where he received a BBA in Accounting in 1963 and an MBA in 1965. On May 25, 1963, he married Linda Raye Smith. He is the proud father of one son, Lynn Beene, and two daughters, Lisa Lunsford and Laurie Roman. In 1971 Lyndel became a Certified Public Accountant and had a successful accounting practice for 35 years in Bryan. He retired from accounting in 2000 and became a full time rancher in Grimes County. Lyndel had been a member of Central Baptist Church of Bryan for over 40 years and was a member of the Friendship Bible Study Class. He enjoyed ranching and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Lyndel is preceded in death by his father, Charlie Beene; step-father Donald Hicks; father-in-law Weyman H. Smith; and brother-in-law Roy G. Moss, Jr.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years Linda Beene of Bryan; son Lynn Beene of Houston; his daughter Lisa Lunsford and husband Jim of Del Rio, and daughter Laurie Roman and husband Joe of College Station; grandchildren Rebecca Lunsford, Heather Lunsford, Jonathan Lunsford, David Lunsford, Nathan Roman, Natalie Roman, Sarah Roman; mother Ida Eddie Hicks; brothers and sister, Jerald Beene and wife Judy, Ivy Moss; Charles Beene and wife Betty, Mitchell Beene and wife Elaine, and Kenneth Beene and wife Linda; mother in law, Raye Smith and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church building fund.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Usha Venkatraj, the staff at Hope Cancer Center, Dr. Bobby Baines, the staff of Aggieland Cancer Treatment Center and the compassionate staff of Traditions Hospice for the care given to Lyndel.
