Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday November 11, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan, with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 12 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan with Reverend Patrick Ebner officiating. Entombment will follow at Monsignor Gleissner Mausoleum at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bryan.
Louis was born in Bryan, Texas to Angelina and Antonio “Tony” Ruffino on December 8, 1927. He grew up in Brazos County and attended Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan. He joined the United States Army in 1946 and served during the occupation of Okinawa. After returning to Bryan, Louis moved to Houston doing home repair work. He soon joined Houston Sash and Door Company where he learned master cabinetmaking before joining Franer’s in Houston. In 1969, he and oldest son moved back to Bryan to find work and build a house to move the rest of the family to Bryan. He went to work at Lanehart Cabinet Shop. In 1972, he moved the rest of the family to Bryan and began working for the Physical Plant at Texas A&M until his retirement in January 1991. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bryan.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Morrell; and his mother-in-law Florene David. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jacqueline “Jackie” Ruffino of Bryan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Leslie Ruffino, and Clay and Lynda Ruffino of Bryan; two daughters and one son-in-law, Donna Westcott of College Station, and Beverly and Ernie Goode of Bryan; one sister, Rena Tomchesson of Bryan; seven grandchildren, Angelina Cunningham and husband Robert, John Anthony Ruffino, Courtney Holder, Heath Holder, Kate Westcott, Samantha Ruffino, and Louis Ryan Ruffino; four great-grandchildren, Aidan Service, and Mark, Rachel, and Victoria Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Manor and Traditions Hospice for the love and care they provided for Louis.
