On Thursday, August 29, 2024 Lee Piccolo Sr. left this earth just before 1:00 p.m. Jesus came to take him to be in Heaven forever. Over the last three years every Thursday at 1:00 p.m., Lee spent an hour in prayer and devotion before the Blessed Sacrament in the St. Joseph Adoration Chapel. Therefore, Lee did not miss his adoration hour on this special Thursday.
Lee was surrounded by loved ones when he passed away peacefully. We believe a crowd awaited him at Heaven’s Gates. Among those who preceded him in death are his beloved wife LaVerne and precious daughter Dianna Marie. His parents Sam and Rosalie, his siblings and their spouses Tony (Mary Jo), Dona (Jasper), Mike (Rose), Callie (John), Joe (Katherine) and Mary (Vincent).
He is survived by his daughters and sons, Cynthia and Michael, Rosalie and Phil, Michael and Kimberly and Lee Jr. and dear friends Diana and Tammi. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Deanna, Mike Jr., Brent, Sara, and Josh, Bethany and Travis, Jantzen, Jonathon, Matthew and Jessica, Jillian, Amanda and Kevin, Kristina and Rebecca and Jared and his great grandchildren Harrison, Adeline, Ross Michael, Giavanna, Audri, Sutton, Lena, Kent, Joanie, Jude and Nora, brother-in-law Melvin and Shelia, sisters-in-law Mary Jane, Betty, and Mauriceen and numerous nieces and nephews and family.
In his early years, Lee was employed by Mrs. Baird’s and Frito Lay as a delivery driver. He had many friends on his various routes. After retirement, he drove a special needs bus for Bryan ISD. He still talked to family about “his” children that rode his school bus each day. Lee was passionate about Texas A&M sports, particularly Women’s Basketball and Softball. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, as well as tractor repair and restoration. Each morning, he would read and pray the daily bible readings. He spent many a morning drinking coffee and watching the birds from his kitchen window where he always had birdfeed and hummingbird nectar available for them. He loved reading, watching westerns and listening to country music.
One of his most endearing qualities was his generous spirit. It defined him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and his positive and encouraging words helped so many of us get through difficult times.
Lee was a devout and faithful Catholic and served the Church in many ways over his long life. He was so very proud of all his family and had many dear friends, some since childhood!
