Lee passed away at home peacefully with his family by his side Monday May 30, 2016. He was born in Brazos County at Steele Store, on May 23, 1932 to John and Lula Fazzino.
He attended Stephen F. Austin High School where he received the Future Farmer Award in 1950. Upon graduation he began his career as a farmer and rancher in the Brazos Bottom. Through hard work and perseverance, he expanded his farming and cattle operation from Brazos county to Burleson and Robertson Counties.
In 1961 Lee was awarded the National Farmers Life Award. In 1963 he was elected and served as the Bryan Young Farmers President of Brazos County. In the year 1965 he was selected from among his peers as the Outstanding Young Farmer of Texas. He represented our state at the National Convention in Washington DC. In 1966 Lee was awarded the Bryan Production Credit Young Farmers Award.
He also served on the Federal Home Administration Board. Lee was a owner and board member of Westbrook Valley Gin and a board member of Taylor Cotton Compress. Lee also served on the Finance Council for St. Anthony’s Catholic Church for over 20 years.
Lee served as a Director for Capital Farm Credit for 20 years. It was here that he was able to help many young agriculture families get their start.
Lee was a pioneer in the farm and ranching industry being one of the first to try new advances in farming and ranching. He never hesitated to try new processes and techniques to make his operations more efficient. As a farmer he worked alongside his workers and never asked them to do anything that he would not do himself.
Lee had a love of nature and passed that love on to his grandchildren where he showed them how to garden, bottle feed a new born calf, and also the love of hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years Sara Scarmardo Fazzino, his children Loretta Talley and Stephen, Roselle Linder and Larry, Madonna Lorenz and Robert “Butch”, John Fazzino and Roann and Lee Fazzino, Jr. and Sally. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren with one on th e way: Sara Kathryn Murphy, Elizabeth Martin, Madonna Lynn McClure, Courtney Vetter, Magen Hearn, Robert Lorenz, Will Fazzino, AnnaMarie Drymalla, Jennifer Fazzino, Victoria Dibrell, MaryFrances Fazzino, Rosemary Fazzino, Katherine Fazzino and Olivia Fazzino. Great-grandchildren: Nolan and Keaton McClure, Mason and Preston Martin, Emma Kate and Clark Hearn; and his sister Katie Fazzino Viola. He is proceeded in death by his parents John and Lula Fazzino, His brothers Marion, Nick, Don, Joe and Mike. His Sister Mary Ann Scarpinata and a son-in-law Cooper G. Dibrell.
Visitation for Lee will be held Thursday, June 2nd from 5 to 8 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The Vigil Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, June the 3rd at 10:00 am at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church
