Joe "Jose Vasquez" Mendez, 87, passed away on September 30, 2023, in Bryan, Texas. He was born on October 2, 1936, in Junction, Texas. Joe, as he preferred to be called, had a fulfilling career that spanned different fields. In his early years, he worked as a Munitions Inspector, and later in his career, he dedicated his time to serving the City of Gardena in California.
Joe had a deep love for collecting scaled-down classic vehicles and watching sports. His hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to indulge in his passions. He was known for his kind and loving nature, and he cherished spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife Jenny; daughters, Terresa, Debbie, and Deloris (James); sons, Ronnie, Dennis (Tonya), Vincent (Shelley), and Ruben (Leslie); grandchildren, Phillip, Andrea, Nicholas, Kyle, Adam, Joshua, Brianna, Jasmine, Joselynn, Francesca, Joseph and Dennis Jr, and Angela; as well as several great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sons, Joseph, and Ricky as well as his parents, Manuel, and Simone.
Joe found solace in his faith and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. His dedication to his religious beliefs was an important aspect of his life.
The viewing will be on October 13, 2023, from 4pm to 7pm, followed by a Rosary at 7pm, at Memorial Funeral Chapel located at 1515 South College Ave., Bryan, TX 77801. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on October 14, 2023, at 10am at St. Anthony's Church, 401 S Parker Ave., Bryan, TX 77803.
