Jean Gayle Lewis

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023 from 12:00pm until 1:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. The Funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will be heldat a later date at Der Stadt Friedhof in Fredericksburg, Texas.

Jean was born February 9, 1933 in Dallas, the daughter of Walter H. and Jean (Sears) Cunningham. She graduated from Kilgore Junior College, then soon after started her career as an airline stewardess for Braniff Airlines. Among her many flight destinations was Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jean left the airline industry to get married.

In later years, she volunteered helping with local elections in Brazos County. Jean enjoyed her time with the ladies of the Red Hat Society at Carriage Inn.

But most of all, Jean enjoyed family gatherings.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 52 years, William Lewis; and a brother, Holly Cunningham.

She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Frank and Sheila Vance, and Keith Vance; daughter, Kara Vance; grandchildren, Josh Vance and wife Emily, Nikki Vance, Rachel Vance, Eden Vance and Hudson Vance; nephews, Clark, Philip and Craig, and their families.
