Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Msgr. John McCaffrey officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. rosary Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
James graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan and attended Texas A&M University. 1966 he married his wife of 34 years, Nelda Ree Nevill, who preceded him in death. Together they raised a family of two children. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather.
He started his career in the banking business and later opened the “Country Skillet” and ran a very successful business from 1995 until he retired in 2012. He honorably served our country in the U.S. Army and continued his military service in the Texas National Guard.
James is preceded in death by his father, Jerome G. Zubik; mother, Anne Zemanek Zubik; two brothers, Gerald and Daniel Zubik; wife, Nelda Nevill Zubik; and son-in-law, Matthew Horsman.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Tara Zubik; daughter and fiancé, Dena Zubik Horsman and Dale Wilson; sister, Alisa Zubik; and two grandsons, Justin Zubik and David Horsman.
