He was born on December 13, 1950 in Kyle Texas to Refugia and Feliciano Mendez.
Lupe was preceded in death by his son Guadalupe (Lupe) Mendez Jr, his parents, brothers, and sisters.
Lupe was an assistant driller for Siegert Water Wells for many years. He was a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan and would watch every chance he could. He loved his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren very much.
Lupe leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years Rachel Mendez, his son Johnny (Jennifer) daughters Loretta (Alicia), and Valeria (Tim). He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren Russell (April), Matthew, Sandra (Joseph), Taylor, Edison, Quincey, Martin (Danelle), Michael (Brandi), Mason, Mateo, Tara(Ruben), Ashley(Justin), and RJ(Hannah). He also has 13 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Lupe is also survived by one sister Gloria Lopez and two brothers Benito Mendez Sr and Alvaro Mendez (Anna), sister in law Alice Mendez.
