George Francis Todd, 96, passed away May 18th at the St. Joseph Assisted Living Facility in Bryan. The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM, Thursday, May 23rd at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. A celebration of his life and funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, May 24th at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Bill Wiman officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Bethel Cemetery.
George was a lifelong resident of Brazos County, born September 13, 1922 in Rock Prairie, Texas the son of Irvin and Sara Todd. He attended A&M Consolidated High School, where he played football and ran track. George joined the Army in 1942 and returned home when his father passed away to assist his mother with the farm. He later worked for Food Protein Research and Development Center at TAMU for 40 years and retired in 1985. George loved fishing and gardening. He and his wife, Natalie were members of the Circle Square Dance Club, where they enjoyed traveling and dancing.
George was a great friend to many people and never met a person he didn’t like. He and Natalie enjoyed entertaining and barbecuing in their back yard. Their house was always a gathering place for family, friends and co-workers.
George was preceded in death by his 14 siblings and his wife of 65 years, Natalie Hairrell Todd.
Survivors include his daughter, Pamela Todd Malone and her husband Scott; two granddaughters, Jennifer Malone Wright & her husband Wes and Jessica Anne Malone as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Hospice Brazos Valley.
