Doris was born August 14, 1929 in Lyons the daughter of Charles and Dora Krueger. She met the love of her life on a double date with her sister and married "Moe" Emola in 1950. Doris passionately enjoyed cooking and canning the vegetables Moe would bring in from his garden on a daily basis. She shared her love of canning with her daughter-in-laws. While her husband, sons and grandchildren would reap the benefits of her heartfelt cooking. Doris had many more special talents. She loved gardening, herself, but in the plant form; she would make beautiful flower arrangements to be displayed around the house to make their house a home. She also had a knack for sewing and could fix any ripped pair of jeans or torn shirt around. She was definitely the "go to" in the Emola household. To add to an already impressive list of qualities, Doris was a very loving and nurturing wife, mother and grandma. Rather it be a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, hands to scratch a back, a lap to sit on or a lullaby to be sung, Doris was there; and did it with every ounce of love in her soul. She loved being with and taking care of her 5 grandchildren. And her grandchildren experienced that love full fold. She definitely taught everyone around her what true compassion and love really is.
Doris also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes with her friends and family. This may have been when she lost a small bit of that compassionate side and replaced it with competitive determination. Doris did not like to lose. No matter who she was playing with, young or old, she was not going to cut them any slack; not even her grandchildren. But like she said, "you can just get glad in the same pants you got mad in". Doris was known for her little "one-liner sneak attacks" that made everyone laugh around her.
Doris was an extraordinary lady and is the epitome of what we should all strive to be.
Doris was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a charter member of the Gold Medallion Club. She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Carlo “Moe” Emola. Who passed away just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her sons, Deryl Emola, Gary Emola and wife Caron; daughter-in-law, Loretta Emola; grandchildren, Shauna Emola Hazlewood and husband Brent, Nicholas Emola, Heather Emola and fiancé Kole Taylor, Ashley Emola Blanco and husband Luis, and Kristopher Emola.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
