Rosary and Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2 at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Barney was born January 11, 1922 in Bryan to Bonnie and Beatrice Dragna Cash. He grew up on West 19th Street in Bryan and worked in his father’s bakery and father-in-laws sheet metal business. Later he worked for the US Air Force as a Civil Servant until his retirement.
He proudly served our country during WWII in the Army Air Corps from 1942 -1945. He served in the European Theater assigned to the 596th Bomb Squadron.
On September 28, 1943, Barney married Delores Polansky. They were members of St Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan. Later they moved to Del Rio, TX, Roswell, NM, Rapid City, SD, and finally to San Antonio, TX.
Barney was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 29 ½ years, Delores Cash; son, Thomas Barney Cash; brothers, Frank Cash, Charles Cash, Jack Cash, and Luke Cash; and sisters Mary Mauro, Rena Boatcallie and Frances Scanlin and granddaughter Melissa Berg.
He is survived by his son Robert Cash and wife Linda of San Antonio; daughter Cyndi Giesen and husband Don of Austin; six grandchildren; Amanda Wilkinson and husband Richard of Webster, Ashley Cash of Midlothian, Scott Woods and wife Angie of Farmington NM, Melanie Givens and husband Blaine of Houston, Clint Bradford and wife Clare of Austin, and Stephanie McVey and husband Tim of New York: twelve great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Landon Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Care in San Antonio for their outstanding care of our father. Also, our eternal gratitude to RN Elizabeth Blair and the entire staff of River City Hospice of San Antonio for the loving care they gave to our father in his final months.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Anthony Catholic Church in Bryan.
