Aurora was born September 18, 1922 in Hearne the daughter of Lupe and Petra (Saravia) Mendez. Aurora was a longtime resident of Bryan, where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Valley Junction at the age of 17 when she married Paul Ramirez, Sr., whom she met at the Wagon Wheel Dance hall in the Brazos bottom. It was love at first site. They were a couple admired by many for their love for each other and their family, and for their giving natures. They stood as witnesses in countless weddings, for both family members and friends.
Aurora and Paul were blessed with 67 years of marriage before he passed in 2007. Her family finds solace in knowing that their souls are now reunited for eternity.
Aurora was a devoted member of Santa Teresa Catholic Church and she and her husband were members of local LULAC council #229. She was a mother to all she met, a natural caregiver that made everyone feel loved and welcomed. Aurora always put the needs of others before her own, and was a source of faith and encouragement for her family and friends. Her beautiful smile, sweet heart, and loving soul will be missed, but never forgotten.
Aurora was preceded in death by her parents, Lupe and Petra Mendez; husband, Paul Ramirez, Sr. and her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Paul Jr. and Teresa Ramirez, Robert “Bobby” Sr. and Olivia Ramirez, Roy and Sara Ramirez all of Bryan; daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Eusebio Reyes Jr. of Bryan; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Aurora’s grandsons, Paul Michael Ramirez, Russell Ramirez, Artie Reyes, Danny Reyes, Sr., Robert Ramirez, Jr., John Frank Ramirez, Roy Paul Ramirez and Randy Earl Ramirez.
The Ramirez family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Brazos Valley and the nursing staff for the love, care and support they gave to Ama.
