Apolonio Salas Garcia (warmly known as “Paul” by close friends and family), 86 of Bryan TX, passed away peacefully during the night at St. Joseph hospital on June 13, 2013.
Paul Garcia was born to Manuel and Antonia Garcia on February 9, 1927, who enjoyed life and lived every day to the fullest. His hobbies included beautiful singing and playing guitar with his brother along with many musical friends, fishing, and family and friend time. Legends have Paul Garcia play on local early radio stations. Paul came from very humble beginnings, never marrying and with no children, but had a “Young at Heart” attitude and wonderful smile, leaving many of us all richly blessed to have known and met him.
Paul Garcia worked at various locations but met a large variety of people as is if it were a world traveled adventure. His biggest strength was of having a “Strong” Family value. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be missed by numerous family and friends.
He is survived by brothers Guadalupe S. Garcia and wife Marcelina of Bryan; Manuel S. Garcia and wife Karen of Bryan; John S. Garcia and wife Brenda of Rutherford, NJ; sisters Pauline G. Gomez of Bryan and Mary S. Garcia of Bryan; sister-in-law Stella Garcia of Bryan. Also included are numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces, great grand-nephews and great grand-nieces He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Manuel and Antonia Garcia), sisters Alicia G. Davila, Amanda G. Mimbella and brother Robert S. Garcia.
Services will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Sunday June 16, 2013 with visitation from 5:00pm-7:00pm, followed by a Rosary. Funeral services will be held at Memorial Funeral Chapel on Monday June 17, 2013 at 10:00am. Burial proceeding immediately after services at the City of Bryan Cemetery.
The family is comforted by and sends many “Thank You’s” to family and friends for all of your kind words and loving gestures.
